BioOh great, this is always the fun part that reads like an obituary!
OK, we'll take a stab at it. First of all, I was born and raised in the Bahamas. Now does this conjure images of nut brown skin, grass skirts and coconut bras? Well get your mind off of the hula dashboard dancer cause that 'ain't me. I have fair skin, freckles and curly red hair. My Dad is Scottish so I got those North kinda genes from him. So how did I survive in the Caribbean? By the skin of my teeth! Sun block was not very good during the time of my youth when I was foisted out to the beach by my parents. I've shed so many layers of skin from burns and blisters that you could probably build a whole new me with them. OK we're getting icky here.
Growing up in the Bahamas was not so bad (once I managed to hide a bit more from the sun) but like all teenagers, all I wanted to do was to run off and see everywhere else. College was the most amazing time of my life. I went to the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah Georgia. I love that school. I made amazing friends, had life changing experiences and left with a few degrees. BFA in Graphic Design and MFA in Illustration.
So now I'm in Ontario Canada and I work at a Publishing House. I got married a few years ago to a wonderful man who was a Savannah native. Yes I married a Southerner. And a redneck to boot. Being the good wife that I am, I'm trying to curb his Southern habits of fried, more fried and deep fried. He's fighting me tooth and nail on the whole issue but in general he puts up with my generous helpings of chlorophyll on his plate. In May of last year, our son was born. Aiden is an active and curious baby who loves music and Mickey Mouse. I keep saying he's going to be the next Alan Menken!
I still love to visit my folks in the Bahamas (lordy do I miss the food!) and my friends in Savannah. I encourage you to stop by either or both when you have the chance. Just tell them I sent you.
